Welcome to Áskot Cottages
Our cottages offer a cozy retreat in a relaxing rural atmosphere, surrounded by breathtaking views of Eyjafjallajökull, the Vestmannaeyjar Islands, and the vast Icelandic landscape. Each season brings its own charm—winters with crisp air and dancing northern lights, and summers where the sun barely sets, filling the surroundings with energy and life.
Comfortable & Well-Equipped Cottages
Each cottage features a well-equipped kitchenette with all the essentials for preparing simple meals, including cutlery, pots, pans, dishes, and knives. While you bring your own groceries, we provide frying oil, salt, pepper, sugar, coffee, and tea. Each cottage also has a dishwasher and a washer/dryer combo for your convenience.
The cottages are 32 m2 each and designed to comfortably accommodate 2-3 adults or a couple with 2 young children. For a restful stay, every cottage has a comfortable king-size bed (which can be converted into two singles) and a high-quality sofa bed. Our 100% cotton, hypoallergenic linens ensure a cozy night’s sleep. You can relax, read, or listen to music through the Bluetooth speaker provided.
The area has geothermal heating, keeping the cottages warm and cozy all year round. Each cottage also has private parking and a private EV car charger.
A unique experience
Áskot is the only facility in Iceland that trains horses using a specialized swimming method in indoor swimmingpool. Our guests can make an appointment to visit the stables and witness these remarkable training sessions firsthand and get a truly unique glimpse into Icelandic horsemanship.
A Room with a View
From your cottage window, you may see Eyjafjallajökull and the Vestmannaeyjar Islands. Step outside, and you'll also spot Hekla, along with the lights from nearby farms and Þykkvabær. Sometimes the horses are close to the cottages, and other times they wander further away.
